An important job of the Royal Mews is to transport The Queen and Royal Family on important occasions. On some special occasions the Royal Family will travel in horse-drawn carriages.
The Royal Mews looks after and trains the horses that pull the carriages. The breeds of horse used are Cleveland Bays and Windsor Greys. They have to be groomed, fed and have their stables cleaned out. Another very important job is exercising all the horses in the Riding School at the Mews. Sometimes you will see the horses pulling carriages around the roads near Buckingham Palace.
